Comprehensive Web Integration
Need help in a hurry?
If you are new to MvCaTs and find yourself in urgent need of help, our specialty is rapid support by Secure Remote Access. And our Minimum Service Quote is 8 hours. But there is No Minimum Billing Requirement. We bill only for the time it takes to get the job done right. If it takes 4 hours, we bill for 4 hours and place the balance of your Retainer on file as a Credit for the next project. Or you could request a Refund of the unused portion. Your $1,022.40 Retainer is our Collateral (that's $142/hour * 8 hours -10% New Client Discount). Think of it as purchasing a prepaid debit card. We could begin helping as soon as we receive your Retainer, signed Service Quote, and signed Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement.
The urgent nature of your request means a Consultant would need to drop whatever s/he is doing to provide assistance, along with the fact that MvCaTs has no prior exposure to your system or software or database. So an urgent quote requires a 100% retainer which will act as Credit on Account until applied to Services Rendered. However, if you approve this quote and are pleased enough with the results to request a second project, the second quote will require only a 50% retainer.
If your initial contact with us will be by email, please do NOT include an attachment. Even if your email does not end up in Quarantine, we will not be at liberty to open it because we will not recognize your domain name.
Did you know that ...?
When you engage MvCaTs for a project, your money is NOT at risk. Simply put, you get your money's worth or you get your money back. Your refund would be on its way back to you the next business day. No one cares more about getting it right the first time or about making it right if we miss the mark. Our Guarantee page details our Retainer Policy, Money Back Guarantee, and an overview of How We Do Business. Our web site contains a wealth of information because, as Dr. Phil says, those with nothing to hide - hide nothing. Just use Ctrl<F> on any page to find what you're looking for.
We publish our Rates
So you won't have to "drill down" in search of them as you probably have to do with our competitors. And even better, our rates will NOT increase in 2017. You can choose a rate that fits your comfort level and your budget. You can "order a la carte" with our Volume Discounts or choose from scores of variations on our Support Maintenance Agreements (SMA). You can sign an SMA any day of the year and choose the Effective Date. Click here for a choice of Rates as low as $106.50 per hour.
What, No Glitz?
You may have noticed our web site contains no glitz and glitter. That's because it is intended to inform rather than dazzle. We don't spend client dollars on web development - unless we are helping clients to integrate their MultiValue databases with their web site for online ordering and shopping cart checkout. Our aim is to hold down costs and present our selves, our policies, and our terms in a readable font and a forthright manner with integrity. If you want glitz, and you prefer to read with a magnifying glass, and you enjoy playing hide and seek while drilling down through multiple links looking for rates, you could visit the web sites of a few of our major competitors. While they charge AS MUCH AS $110.00 MORE PER HOUR than we do (AND you will probably need to call to learn their rates), at least you will know where your extra dollars are being spent.
Custom Terms on request
If you have reviewed all the variations on our Support Maintenance Agreements and still don't see the terms you want, Click here to request Custom Terms. Tell us the Rate you want, the number of Hours per month, and the number of Months you are willing to commit to. We will respond within 24 hours to Accept or make a Counter-Offer. Or just pick up the phone and call us at (931) 287-7144. To capture the brass ring, you have to reach for it.
Quotes are Free
To request a Free Quote, click here and describe the support you need. We will respond within 24 hours. Or just pick up the phone and call us at (931) 287-7144. We never work on "fixed bid" for any project. Instead, our Quotes state: "This is an estimate. Client will be billed ONLY for Actual Services and Hours worked." To enable Clients to keep projects within budget, we offer instant Billing Snapshots. On any day of the month, or at specified intervals, a Client can simply request a free Billing Snapshot and within minutes, it will be emailed to them. Snapshot accrued hours, charges, and discounts are current as of end-of-business the prior work day.
New Client Signing Bonus
To qualify, simply request your first Quote then sign & submit. You will receive a 10% Discount per hour off all billable work under that quote during the month of signing AND the month following. For example, 20 billable hours per month would yield a Signing Bonus of $284.00 Remote or $376.00 Onsite off your first AND second Time Billing Statements. The more work you give us, the bigger your Bonus will be. Please Note: This Bonus is available only to clients who do not yet have a Support Maintenance Agreement (SMA) in place.
Free Quote Comparison within 24 hours
If you already have a quote from one of our competitors, we would like the opportunity to offer you better terms. Click here to Request a Comparison Quote. Send a copy of their quote via email attachment along with your original specifications for the project. (It might also be a good idea to send a separate email without attachment letting us know about the first email in case our ISP becomes over-zealous and places it in Quarantine.) Then give us 24 hours to submit a better quote.
Or if you have reviewed our Rates page and none of our terms quite meet your current needs, Click here to Request Custom Terms. Tell us what terms would work for you and what you are willing to offer us in exchange for those terms. We will respond within 24 hours. Please include your contact information and be sure to add our domain name to your Trusted Senders list so you can receive our reply.
We're a PICK Consulting Group, not a Recruiter
We reengineer MultiValue / PICK software to interact with Graphical User Interface (GUI) "wrapper" applications such as AccuTerm GUI, OpenInsight, Visual Basic, .Net, and wIntegrate. You don't have to leave PICK to "go GUI".
We optimize MultiValue / PICK software for faster processing and greater productivity.
We integrate MultiValue / PICK databases with web sites to incorporate a Shopping Cart with Secure Checkout.
We rescue Client Databases and MultiValue / PICK software when converting to a new OS during Disaster Recovery.
We create code to your exact specifications, with the same look and feel you already know.
We subcontract at a Discount to MultiValue / PICK Software companies who sometimes have too many projects and too few programmers.
We Support Application Software Development on these MultiValue / PICK Systems: ADDS/NCR, Advanced Revelation (ARev), AP Pro, AT&T, D3 (Raining Data, TigerLogic, Rocket Software), D3ProPlus, Honeywell, U2 (UniData/UniVerse), jBase, mvBASE, mvENTERPRISE, OpenInsight, Power95Plus, Prime, R83, R91, Reality/Sequel, Ultimate, UniVision. If you are running Caché, Mumps, ONware, or OpenQM, we may be able to support those as well.
And we provide help with System Administration for Rocket Software (alias TigerLogic, alias Raining Data, alias PICK Systems) D3, mvBASE, and mvENTERPRISE systems, UniData/Universe/U2, and jBase as well as other multivalue systems. We have VARs (Value Added Resellers) on staff. And we can help you locate hard-to-find parts for older systems, regardless of the manufacturer. We can also help you migrate to a new MultiValue system at a minimum of expense and often without the need for a conversion.

"What happens to us if something happens to you?"
Are you relying on a "Lone Wolf" PICK, jBase, ARev, OpenInsight, UniBasic (UniData/UniVerse/U2), UniVision, AccuTerm, or InfoLease Programmer to support your MultiValue proprietary software? Or a solitary Rocket Software (aka TigerLogic, Raining Data, PICK Systems), UniData/UniVerse/U2, or jBase VAR to provide system support? If so, then you have probably asked this question: "What happens to us if something happens to you?" Or perhaps YOU are that "Lone Wolf", whether full-time or a "contract player", or that solitary VAR (Value Added Reseller), concerned about your position and the company if something happens while you are taking time off. Our intent is to undergird, not undermine, your current IT support.

The BIGGER your Commitment, the BETTER your Rate.
We offer rates as low as $106.50 per hour, depending on the number of hours per month you are willing to commit to. Our Support Maintenance Agreements are single page, one side, no fine print, no mumbo jumbo.
But why do I need an SMA? Can't I just call when I want support?
Certainly - as long as you don't mind waiting longer and paying more. No, we aren't punishing you for not signing an SMA. Rather, we are rewarding those clients who are willing to make a commitment to our bottom line as well as theirs. Let's look at both sides of this coin. When you call WITH an SMA in place, 1) there is No Retainer Required, 2) your discount is already locked in along with both the Remote & Onsite Rates which were in effect at signing, 3) we already know your system login procedure, 4) we're already familiar with your software and database, and 5) we can begin helping immediately. But when you call WITHOUT an SMA in place, 1) a Service Quote must be prepared for your signature, 2) a Retainer will be Required, 3) we will need full instructions regarding the system login procedure, 4) we may not yet be familiar with your software and database, and 5) we will not be able to begin helping until the Retainer is received.
Case in point: The IT Manager for a client whose account had been dormant for 2 1/2 years called with an emergency. He was on vacation in India when his company in NYC encountered an error while attempting to use non-existent fiscal period 13 when there should be only 12 periods. The software failed to interpret a date as belonging to the first fiscal period of the new year. That software was written by their former IT consultant whom they had tried to reach unsuccessfully for several days, but he was not answering his phone or returning their calls. When the client's IT Manager finally called us, we answered on the second ring.
He asked if we could correct the glitch first then do the paperwork later. That solution would have served only the client and left us holding the bag. So we reminded him that we must receive a signed Service Authorization and a 50% Retainer before work could begin. It took 3 hours before their CFO submitted those. And in the past 2 1/2 years, they had since migrated to a new login with which we were unfamiliar. But the IT Manager kept failing to provide all pertinent pieces of information needed for us to access the system successfully. As a result, this client's end users suffered long and needless delays and frustration.
Had this client "kept us in the loop" with our most affordable SMA (which includes 3 hours of support for $413.22 per month for a 30 month term), there would have been no Retainer required, we would already know the new login procedure, we would already be familiar with their software and database, and we could have researched and corrected the error immediately. An SMA gives our clients instant access to our support, locks in both the Remote & Onsite Rates for the full SMA term, and provides us with recurring receivables as well as predictable scheduling of our resources. So both sides benefit.

An MvCaTs Consultant could come to your place of business for the initial Onsite Survey, if desired. But it's much more affordable to have us conduct a Software Preview by secure remote access instead. Afterward, we develop and support your PICK / MultiValue application software from our District offices. See our Rates page for Sample Quotes.
We encourage Clients to have their system vendors install and test all available O.S. patches and updates prior to engaging software support. Why? Because the system rather than the software may be the cause of some of your concerns. If patching the system alleviates the problem, you save unnecessary expense. If the problem persists, we're ready to help.
Are you still limping along with an outdated PICK system, perhaps even an R83? That old workhorse deserves to retire. Perhaps you are not aware that Raining Data, then TigerLogic, and now Rocket Software took over the PICK brand. We have VARs (Value Added Resellers) on staff. And we know other national Value Added Resellers who can most likely migrate your software and data to a new system WITHOUT the need for a conversion. In no time at all, you could be running your existing applications on your existing workstations (if you like) on a brand new, ultra fast, very stable D3 system. Then if a report which used to take an hour to process finishes in the time it takes you to walk to the printer, you could spend the rest of that hour wishing you had upgraded sooner. Contact us today for a Free Estimate.
Of course ...
|You could hire someone less experienced and less qualified for about half our standard rate. But if it takes them three months to finish a project which we could have completed in one, it would take 3 times as long and cost 50% more than it would to retain our services. Think of it as a choice between chartering a single-engine prop plane with a rookie pilot or a fleet of Lear Jets with several experienced flight crews. Either one would get you to your destination. But only one would do it with speed, style, and comfort while saving you both time and money. And if you enjoy the ride, you will want to come back again and again. If you "fly" with us and something happens to the pilot, every crew member on board can fly the plane. Why not "book a flight" today and see for yourself? You can even keep your shoes on!|
Loretta Lynn was once quoted as saying, “To succeed, you have to be first, best, or different.” We are obviously not the first PICK Consulting Group (although we may be the first Discount PICK Consulting Group). Someday, we would like to be considered the best. But one thing we definitely are is different.
Our rates are lower for 3 reasons: 1) Our overhead is lower because we telecommute from District Offices so we don't need to maintain corporate headquarters or a fleet of vehicles. 2) Our productivity is higher because we telecommute so the hours formerly wasted commuting are now invested in programming. 3) Our billable hours are fewer because we don't do R&D at client expense to create vertical software packages. And we don't carry inventory for resale.
Remember the first question the instructor asked in Intro to Philosophy 101? "If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it fall, did it make a sound?" You don't have to be there to know it made a sound. And you don't have to see our Consultants in their District Offices, heads down, assaulting the keys, to know they are working diligently on your behalf. Only results matter.
Why not put us to the test? Give us a small project. The results will speak for themselves. Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.
